Because currently I'm using my vcr and it sucks because its about 10 years old. I thought a dvd recorder would be a nice way to record shows that I miss and also be my cable box.

Yes you can use a dvd recorder as a cable box. However, it will be like the VCR - if you are recording something you can't change channels.

hi the version between recording with a cable field and devoid of is and not utilising a cablebox u checklist on the channel shall we are saying 17 yet with a cable field all channels would be recorded on channel 3 and watched on channel 3 plus the dvd recorder u bought doesnt have a tuner so u cant hook it up by utilising ability of youe rf cable like the single that is going too the television u have too connect with rca cables out and in too use that kind desire this helps any ? be at liberty too digital mail me

Yes, make sure that its tuner can support QAM.
