I'm former Director of Engineering at a major chemical Corp.
If you went to an oil refinery/gasoline depot - you would see ALL types of brand trucks waiting in line to be filled with gasoline! All their gasoline is the same specs ... all good!

Firms that buy LOTS of gasoline get a cheaper price per gallon, so they can sell the same spec gasoline at cheaper price and still make a reasonable profit. So, buy cheap!

Gas is gas. Its all regulated by government standards. If your buying 87 octane, then any gas you buy from any manufacturer from any retailer must meet the government standards for 87 octane in your area. Wal-Mart buys gas from the same distributors as the Exxon, Shell or Texaco down the street. WalMart gets picked on by union thugs because they cannot get a union in their stores so they start rumors like the one you got wind of. Ignore it.

All gasoline comes from one regional distributor The only difference between brands are the additives. The biggest thing is to make sure you buy from a store with good sales as there gas is less likely to have excess water in it.

it depends on the type of car you drive. if it is real high end i would go to Texaco. if it is not any brand of gas if fine to use. the octane rating on gas 87, 89, 91 is what determines its combustibility and stability. on most cars 87 ( the cheap stuff) is fine but on sports cars or high end you will want to use 91. check the fuel door on the inside for a sticker telling what grade to use. or check with a dealer. gas is shipped in pipe lines and companies put gas in at one end and get that amount back at the other end but not necessarily the same gas they put in just the amount. if you have further questions contact me at hunter1stshot@yahoo.com
