In my case it was not very long. I went off birth control (alesse) and I was pregnant a couple weeks later.

It can really vary. The pill does leave your system very early and you could get pregnant as soon as you stop taking it. But your cycle may be thrown off and it can be hard to tell when you ovulate and harder to predict when you are most fertile as well as dating the conception. I got pregnant the first time while on the pill, and the second time the very next month after I stopped taking the pill. I had taken the pill for several years prior to getting pregnant each time. Both pregnancies went well and there wasn't any problems with determining the dating. I say that it wouldn't hurt to try right away, just don't stress out over it. Stress can make it harder to get pregnant. Good luck!

The pill is out of your system within a few days of stopping it. This is why you can get pregnant if you miss 2 pills. It is recommended that you have at least one normal period off the pill before trying for a baby so that your doctor can accurately date your pregnancy. I got pregnant the first time I tried off the pill after having been on it for 7 years.

It is different for every person. I was on the pill for 6 years and I got pregnant the first month I got off the pill. My sister was on the pill for 5 years and it took her about 8 months to get pregnant.

I have heard it takes a month for every year you were on birth control. A friend of mine informed me of this as she just went off birth control to attempt a pregnancy. Her doctor told her this.
