I am a Professional Ballrooom Dance Coach here in Vestal, NY. I might be a bit prejudiced, but I think you will achieve A LOT more from Ballroom Dance training then you ever will in refereeing.
Your dancing will grow with you over the years and let's face it, it is NOT a "GIRL" thing... there are over 400 Universities that offer Ballroom Dancing and they ALL have Ballroom Dance clubs that take their dancing into Ballroom Dance competitions amongst the other Univeristies throught out the USA...
So go tell allyour "friends' that think Ballroom Dancing is a girl thing that they need top GROW UP!! and get with the program! ALL girls like a guy that can dance-- so learn now and enjoy the rest of your life!

Would you rather be around a lot of girls or a lot of guys?
If ballroom is a "girl" thing don't you think you'll be spending your time around cute girls all the time, without putting any effort into arranging for an opportunity to hang out with them? That's what my dance partner says his main motivation to do ballroom. I know he's joking because he obviously likes the elegance and culture part of it.
If you watch this forum for a while you will notice how often do guys come here saying "help! I have a date and I need to learn how to dance, quick!" Dancing might come handy one day.... You can get as serious as you want about ballroom and compete in it too.

It sounds like you should do both, take the ref class first because you can make good money doing that as a sideline then the dancing because lets face it, chicks dig it.

It depends on whether you want to meet girls, or learn how to stand in the middle of a field and look important. And how many girls are dying to go out with the ref? Do they even notice the ref?

There are a lot of songs that I listen to that are dance/pop so I'm going with Ke$sha right now. I'm listening to some of the songs that are from her newest album now. A couple songs to look up are ... Die Young C'mon Blow We R Who We R Take it Off Also The Wanted are great. They sing "Lightening" which is a favorite of mine.

Ball room dancing will always have you around classy rich ladies. Refereeing will be a good income if you make it to the big leagues.
Your choice. Rich ladies, or rich spoiled ball players that will hate you.
