I enjoy Clive Cussler's books - the early ones. "Raise the Titantic" is a good one but the movie didn't come close to doing it justice. The same with "Sahara".

a number of it incredibly is learn ... others are merely made up fictionalized info... the format of a city is trouble-free sufficient to discover with maps & the internet. Dan Brown is a author of FICTION - so which you will assume that at a similar time as a number of those discriptions would be precise ... they are not inevitably "information"

These may be a little more on the literary side than the adventurous side of the historically-based murder-mystery type fiction, but I enjoy Daniel Pearl's books "The Dante Club" and "Poe's Shadow." You might take a look at them.

Robert Anton Wilson.
His "Illuminatus!" series was (IMHO) a more hardcore version of Dan Brown's books. I enjoyed Brown's books but was absolutely blown away by Illuminatus.

I suggest you try reading a REAL book, written by a REAL author. Anything written by Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Steinbeck, Dickens or Camus would be a great start.
