I am in my 40's and have been out of the job search for awhile and have a few questions. What is a hard copy of a resume? Should you interview with a company that gives you no info before the interview on salary, benefits, what exactly the job entails and if they call you the same day you apply? What if I don't have a hard copy of the resume? Thanks!

Q: What is a hard copy of a resume?
A: This a print out your actual resume, usually you mail it or physically drop it off at the company

Q: Should you interview with a company that gives you no info before the interview on salary, benefits, what exactly the job entails and if they call you the same day you apply?
A: Yes! Salary & benefits & specific job details - you will find this out while your in the interview, remember to ask if they don't tell you or you could find their website and check out what the company is like, some of their major accounts, and many times there will be a careers section that will tell about what it's like to work that company. If they called you the same day you applied that is pure luck! Just the fact they called is a plus.

Q: What if I don't have a hard copy of the resume?
A: If you don't have a printer you can always put your Word document on a disc and take it to the library, a friends house, your kids... who ever and print one off. If you are really desprate you could always take your disc to Office Max (or a store like it, ei Staples) and pay to have it printed.

Just be yourself, dress professionally no matter how casual the position is, look them eyes and smile. It always helps to do a little research on the company as well. What they do, how long they have been around, major clients... you know the basics!

Good Luck!

a hard copy resume is simply a paper copy of your resume. i'd be little suspicious if the company does not offer much information about what the job but go for the interview. ask them what the job entails, what is expected of you if they offer it and you accept, the benefits/salary, etc. Note the work environment, if you can talk to the other employees. If they offer it to you and you're not sure to accept or not, tell them you need to consult with your family and that you will give them an answer by the next day.

hard copy is paper you hold in your hand - or you can hand them your resume on disc. Or e-mail. You can be cautious if you want about information you give. Not necessary to give social security number unless hired. Do not mention age. List jobs you have had without the years involved so they don't think you are a dinosaur until they interview.Ask a lot of questions.Smile- wear simple clothes and be friendly. Observe other employees you see - their attitudes etc. Good luck. It sucks out there.

To add to that -do a bit of research - check out the company site - see if they have link to there HR department sometimes they list general benefit. You can also do a general search on pay ranges for the position you are applying for - to be able to answer the pay questions that come - not too over or under price yourself - good luck
