Who cares if "its a big ask" is not a technically sound sentance - its a figure of speech - we all know what is meant.
Kids are either too ignorant or incompetant to give a **** about the English language, so there is not a lot to ruin really, is there?
English has changed a great deal since Shakespear's days and it will continue to evolve now that we use Email and sms.

So lets not go blaming the Gary Linekers and John Barneses of this world because, after all, they're legends and have done enough for the English already.

Look at where pundits generally come from. They are usually former players. While not attempting to "bash" players' intellect, if you devote as much time to practice as you need to if you have set your mind firmly on being the best you can be then you have to neglect your studies somewhat to achieve that. A lot of the language these pundits use is the sort of language used in the dressing room, as I said before some of the players have neglected parts of education to become a star player, so the managers use the simplistic, short, to the point arguments and requests. I'm sure that if you spend 20 years of your life working in a legal settings you'll use language in accordance with what you have been exposed to for so long. If you understand what they're saying, then quit the complaining.

It,s not only football pundits it seems that every branch of the media can,t wait to jump on the next out of america bastardisation of the english language. I would like andy townsend and others to explain what they mean when they ask us to "listen up" or better still, could townsend tell me what someone might be doing if they are listening down. When they come out with this american CRAP! I wonder if they realise what prats they sound?
