Maybe you're just so overcome with the melanin that the sun gives you, and you're so happy that you think you could cry.

Maybe you have an old very sad memory that you can't directly remember that hits you somehow because it was a beautiful sunny afternoon when it happened. Or maybe you miss something special from a memory triggered by that same weather? Or maybe you feel your current situation isn't worthy of such a beautiful day? Maybe you could make some good new memories on days like that, in case that could help reverse the situation. You are wasting these days feeling sad. Think of all the people who can't have these joyful afternoons and enjoy them for them, and try to be glad. Could be a professional could help you look at the sadness and work out where it is coming from and how to deal with it. Good luck.

It probably stirs sad memories in your heart that occured in beautiful, sunny afternoons too or maybe sunny afternoons remind you of what you have become now, your dreams before that you failed to accomplish, and your longing to do something you can't. Or...(just a wild guess) maybe you lost a loved one on a beautiful sunny afternoon during one of your lives (if you believe in reincarnation) and that feeling went on with you through time and you still feel it though you can't remember why (just a wild guess.. :)

I feel that way too. Sometimes, the sun makes people depressed. I love dark rainy days, while most people don't. The best thing to do, is to stay inside and avoid the outdoors until the evening. That has always worked for me.

Certain kinds of light tend to draw you inwards. You withdraw into your inner self and are at peace. It is probably not sadness that you are experiencing but a very desirable inner quiet and solitude.

Examine this state carefully the next time it happens.

Probably triggers a bad distant time in your life.
I can have "flashbacks" of past bad times from something as simple as a sound, or a smell.

Perhaps you suffer from a form of depression. This is a good question to ask your doctor, not here.
