Hopefully he will do well, I am praying so. He is throwing about 14-16 change ups a game now. Which means he certainly has more confidence in it. Blue Jays can hit, no question about that. so this would be a pretty good test, I don't believe they have a choice at this point . He throws 6 solid innings, i say. which will prob get him a slot in rotation, Kei Igiwa must go down and Keep Phil Hughes. so our rotation hopefully in the next few weeks will be Clemens, Wang, Mussina, Pettite, and Hughes (or Pavano) would be great to have hughes around Clemens Muss and pettite.

He has a tremendous amount of potential and, for a pitcher his age (Yankees 1st pick in the 2004 draft and was drafted straight out of highschool) has very good control.
However, I think this will be a stop-gap move. The Yankees have vowed that Hughes will need a full season at AAA ball, but I think they have to make this move because their rotation is in shatters. I see him making 4-5 starts until the rotation gets healthy.

It's about time! they are running guys out there with a lot less talent than him! It may be earlier than they wanted, but they are really desperate for starters right now. I think he'll do well. A lot of rookies do well in their first go round around the league because hitters are not used to them, they they'll adjust and he'll hit a rough strecth. After that, the real players are made, because he'll either readjust to their adjestments,or lose his confidence and fizzle... am I making any sense?

Its time to let the Youngsters shine in the Yankee organization. Hughes has the stuff to be a staff ace. I just hope that he's mature enough and doesn't let his emotions get the better of him.

There is no way to predict how any pitcher will do in any particular game. He could pitch a shutout or he could give up back to back to back to back to back homers. Whatever he does, his performance in his first MLB start of his career, will not solidify his value to the Yankees. Let's just watch and see.

Doesn't make a differance. Even if he held for 6 innings, the bullpen and old Mo will lose it for him. Even if the Yankees had all of their starters, they still have nothing after the 6th inning.

He's pitching against the Devil Rays this evening, so we will get a good look at his pitching. Time will tell how good he is. Certainly he should not be judged on this one appearance.
