the easiest and unbiased way of checking is to go to
www.reliabilityindex.co.uk
Its a factual site that contains nothing but a score for each car based upon the number of warranty claims put in by dealers (which is why new cars dont feature very heavily on it).
Sadly, the leganza scores 173, which is well below average, the equivalent vauxhall astra clocks and impressive 53, the focus 31.7 and even the most unreliable of Alfa Romeos (the 156) comes in at 145. WHat this means in real terms is that statistically, its a very poor car for reliability.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I would not buy a Daewoo if I were you. Daewoo's American division is no longer in business, so resale values will be extremely poor, and servicing the car will be difficult. It may be possible as GM purchased a large stake in Daewoo's declining stock, and as such a number of Daewoo designs were incorporated into later model Chevys and Suzukis, but Daewoos also do not have the best reliability records. Before you jump into buying any car however, check a site like Yahoo autos or autotrader.com just to see what you can get for your budget. You'll probably find that you can get a car with far better features from a company that still has established service networks for roughly the same amount of money. Never jump into buying a car because you like the price. Check a site like this one http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/
You'll find articles on just about every make of car you might be interested in. The primary complaints about the Leganza were it's cheap feel and miserable acceleration. As far as I can tell you can probably get a much better car.

The Daewoo company is a Korean manufacturer partially owned by General motors Asia since 2004. The older USA-used cars were reasonally poor, but cheap. Most newer models are reliable, but none of the new models were in the USA since 2002 and still makes them for Korea as Daewoo, Japan and China as Chevrolet. However, possible rumors of Daewoo returning to the USA is still in the process of offical decision. If they do, likely it will be as Chevrolet and have to have to be greatly (severly) changed to be better compared to the terrible 3 older models of Lanos, Nubria, and of course Leganza or else General motors USA will refuse to allow it.
About the Leganza, never seen them for a while, but I know years ago the Leganza was the cheapest luxury sedan, yet also the worst. Transmission, engine, and electrical were poor. The interior is good, however only if you don't crash or else it deadly since crash rating of all 1999-2002 Daewoos were extremely poor.
The Leganza is still made now, only in Asia at around $21,000USD (over 3.5 million yen). If your from the USA, I am not sure importing one from Asia is possible, yet it is far better than the 2002 Leganza (final year/model in states).

I do not know if the Daewoos are reliable, but I can tell you that they are flaming coffins.
I am a police officer and the last crash I worked involving a Daewoo automobile was not a pretty sight.
The vehicle had struck a tree and burst into flames. Something that you normally only see in movies. The impact really was not all that severe, (relatively) less than 20 mph.
PLEASE Do not get one!!! I would highly recommend anything Toyota makes. In over twelve years of working accidents they seem to keep their occupants in the best shape.

Daewoo's are decent, but don't last that long. I would look at another car company, maybe Toyota or Honda.....they have very reliable cars.
Ironically, Daewoos are being sold as Chevrolets in other countries.

Yes, but you need a rather bigger sample of peoples experience than the one of two you might get here ?;:-)
Why not try Google for 'Daewoo Leganza Reliability' or check the dozens of Car magazines in WH Smith (I seem to recall that 'Which Car' magazine had pages of reliability tables in the back) ?
