Hi

I suppose you mean web-server (when you said internet server). If I am right, the best webserver depends on what technology you equire to implement for the websites you want to host. For example, for ASP/ASP.NET-based websites, you will obvously do the best with a Windows-based webserver which implements IIS. For PHP, you would do wonders with Unix-based webservers that can handle PHP, Apache, Tomcat etc, technologies. So it depends.

Windows Explorer, Netscape, Opera are just web browsers, they are not servers in any way, since they do not handle, inteprete internet requests, but simply render web content that has been intepreted already.

Thanks.

Ditto alakit013 above: please add details as to what sort of "server" you mean! If you mean, ISP, then consumerreports recommends "juno" for dialup (always has, but then, their reports are sort of outdated). You might look at PC magazine. Their ratings are free. Look at eopinions.com. If you mean, broadband (dsl), then look at covad! They're one of the few that offers *just* broadband service without the extra bu*****t software (like msn or aol or whatever...) and they offer excellent tech support.

I think, Yahoo! has ISP affiliates?

Opinion from experience, based on cost and tech support, avoid Earthlink and its appendage PeoplePC: pthpthpthpthpth

What kind of server? HTTP/FTP/etc.?
Internet supports tens (if not hundreds) of different protocols and every protocol can have tons of servers supporting it.
