It is defined as any malice or malpractice that has an adverse effect on thier intrests.

It's effect can vary in magnitude as well as in it's kind. Everyone is different.
But it can lead to a chian-reaction of inherited abuse practice, possibily due to parents feeling safer by caring it out. They feel that they can get away with it easier, that it is less likily to cause problems.

You can include sibling rivalry, school bullying (including from teachers) as abuse, as well as from parents.
All of which must be prevented to the best your ability as all of these cause pain and misery in one way or form.

Anything from a tap on the hand, to killing them would come under this catagory in terms of physical abuse, this is the most common form. It is the form to which people deny responsibility for by making up excuses to exersise it, such as comments like "Children are ill disciplined" or whatever.
These I have found are not views or opinions, but merely a form of manipulation of your perception.
Propaganda may be used such as "People do not get enough exersise", and while it is true, it does not worrent abusive discipline to get exersise work done. It is a way to which they try to persuade us that in such curcumstances, such abuse practice is worrented.
Abusive people are very kaniving like that.

The problems that are caused by being victim to such abuse, can include, worsening of sibling rivalry, practice of abuse on other children (like with school bullies), and learning how to uswe violence; hence it b eing passed down the generations.

Other things such as loss of trust, wanting to leave family members, feelings of hatred and possibly intensions to plan a revenge.

Persistant feelings of sadness about past expierences, a 50% chance of suffering depressive illnesses and so on.

This is what I have heard from journals, TV and so on and also what I know.

I am a nurse (not a pediatric nurse) but I am also a mother of 2 and TTC one more. I did public health for a while and could not stand to see the failure to thrive" babies and families and the shaken-baby-syndrome babies. I would say the definition is anything that harms a fetus, infant or child in anyway, physical or emotional. There are too many causes and effects to ever possibly mention. Usually the parents were abused themselves and it just continues down from there. ex: parents are abused, they abuse their children and so on and so forth. It takes a very strong person to break the chain. It all makes me physically and emotionally sick just to think of what is being done to these poor little ones. I do not think the people doing the abuse are being punished correctly or in a harsh enough manner. If people saw them being punished then maybe it would make someone else think twice before abusing another little one. I don't know if this is what you were looking for but that is my two sense.

Anytime you leave a mark on a child, it is considered child abuse. Think about it this way......If someone came up to you and hit you with a stick (no matter the size), could the police arrest them for assault? Why is a child any different? Anytime you hurt someone else, no matter the age or size you do more damage that you know. I don't think a court would strip a parent of their parental rights without having them take parenting classes so they can learn better ways of disciplining their children and possibly they would have to take anger management classes, depending upon the severity of the case. It takes ALOT to have the courts take their rights away, sometimes too much. I have worked for the Department of Human Services and have some experience in this discussion. Children need love, structure and consistency. Spanking, hitting, threatening, etc. only teaches them to hurt others when they are mad or frustrated.

To be honest....the definition of child abuse varies from state to state. In order for it to be illegal it is defined usually in the state statutes regarding what is "officially" considered abuse or neglect. In Florida it's statue 39. Child abuse, neglect and abandonment are spelled out as to define them in regards to state definitions and guidelines.

The causes??? The causes of child abuse are numerous. There's no one such cause or factor that needs to be in place for child abuse to happen. There are risk factors which increase the likely hood that someone will be abused.

As for the effects...those as well are very numerous. Depends what you are looking at. The financial effects, effects on society, effects on future generations, effects on jail population...etc.

So there's no one definition of child abuse, unless you take the Webster's dictionary and look it up, but even then it may not be correct depending what state you live in.

My opinion s that child abuse is to blame for many of the problems in the world today, and furthermore many people who abuse kids were abused themselves when they were kids .In my opinion this is a generation to generation social sickness and I am sorry but I have no 'thirty words or less' definition of this problem presently.

Why do you want other people to do your school work for you? Go to the library and research the topic yourself.
