go to add/remove programs on the control panel and it should be listed there. If not, you may need to go searching through your program folder. Just go to C:\Program Files and see if you can find the AOL folder. If you want to completly get rid of it, just delete the folder. Make sure no AOL processes are running, or it may not let you delete it.

do a search for a program called unlocker and download and install (it's free and it has no crapware in it) then locate the aol folder and right click and delete there's probably some files that wont delete that's what the unlocker program is for if it doesn't pop up when you try to delete right click on the file and use unlocker by the way make sure nothing aol is running in task manager

there are two other ways to get rid of it. First look under start and programs for the AOL folder, if there is one. There may be uninstall software there. IF there is not then go into you hard drive, under program files and deleat the file named AOL or something to that effect, dont tuch any of the other folders though.

Ditto Adam S, above. AOL (like Norton and Earthlink) is one of those pieces of software that digs deep in and buries itself deep into the system and is hard to dig out. Uninstall it, then find its folder (My Computer, Program Files, etc...) and delete any folder you find. Also make sure it's gone from any Email (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, Internet Options, etc.) accounts/options. Note that when you delete AOL files often you'd think, you go to the folder and right-click it and select Delete? That way, it goes to Recycle? Instead, right-click, hold down Shift, and click your Delete key, and it gets zapped WITHOUT going to the Recycle Bin! You might want to use Search for Files to find any other AOL stuff. Sniff it out! (It took me about 3 months to sniff out Earthlink and Norton on my computer, and about the same to sniff out AOL on my neighbor's computer!)

I wouldn't write a nasty e-mail. They don't care. It would not make any difference except for that you might get poorer customer service.
To answer your question:
So, still runnin' Windows, eh? MIGHT be able to help you.
Do you still have service from them? If you do, you need to call them to cancel it before you should start deleting stuff.
You see, if you were on a mac, it would be MUCH easier to do. Windows makes it a bit more complicated. You have to know a bunch of stuff and if something goes wrong, it messes up everything. 1 reason why I don't use them.

F'ing AOL...
Your best bet is probably to backup all your important stuff, format your hard drive, and reload your O/S.
Then write a nasty e-mail to AOL telling them how badly they suck.
