Abortion is a women's/family choice. Is it ethical?... depends on the situation and timing of each individual case.

If abortion is ethical depends on personal morals and/or the theory of ethics one uses.
Making abortion illegal is completely unethical. This is because all people have the right to control their own bodies and no human has the right to use another's body against their will. Thus, forcing women to remain pregnant against their wills would violate their human rights (and the UN agrees).
But is getting an abortion (for any reason)ethical? Many things have to be considered. The unborn human IS alive, and a separate entity from the pregnant woman. Many people would say that this means it should remain alive. However, the unborn human is living inside of the woman's body - thus her right to bodily integrity means that she must have the right to deny use of her body to the unborn human and to have it removed.
What it comes down to, ethically, is the right to bodily integrity versus the right to life. From a legal standpoint, we can look at past cases dealing with the same rights - namely McFall v. Shrimp (see "sources" for details of ruling). The decision in that case was that the right to bodily integrity trumps the right to life. Thus is it logical that it is ethical from a legal standpoint to get an abortion.
From a moral standpoint, one has to look at one's moral guides. If one is a Christian, their holy book says nothing about abortion, but does imply that an unborn human is not the same as a born human (Ex. 21:22-25).
Many religious organizations are against abortion. Others are neutral.
There is no doubt that making abortion illegal is unethical. And abortion is ethical in general (and from a legal standpoint specifically). However, it is up to the people involved to decide if abortion is ethical in any specific case.

I'm not an advocate of abortion, because I feel once a life is created it should not be terminated, except in the case where the mother's life is in extreme jeopardy or if the conception was a product of a rape.

It is absolutely NOT ethical for me. A life is a life no matter how small it is. I shudder at the fact that people think of it as a "choice". To me, it's a human.

No. Abortions are not ethical, and I hope all women who have had one will spend an eternity in hell. :)

It's not a question of ethics. Is removing a tumor a question of "ethics"?
