I'm going to be upgrading my pc to vista soon and I want to find out how to backup my itunes database so that I dont lose all of my song ratings (around 5500 of them!)

is there a file / directory I need to retain as well as my actual music folder?

You don't "own" your iTunes = all you have is the 'right' to listen to them on your iPods and back them up once (or maybe twice).

Apple's built-in Copy Protection / Anti-Piracy is there to STOP you copying them .. so, chances are, unless you are REALLY careful, you are going to loose the lot.

Go visit Apple site and see what they say about upgrading to Vista (I'm sure there must be a user group that has done this already and will be able to advise)
