Well, a "sunburn" is the reaction of your skin to sunlight. Since your eyeballs don't have skin on them, then no. However, you can do damage to your eyes from the sun so it's good to wear UVA/B blocking shades.

Eyes can get sunburn.
That is why we wear dark glasses.
UV Safety Month : For many people sunglasses are an expression of style; a new pair for each new outfit. Tempted by new frames sold on the street corner, many of these glasses don’t have the protection your eyes need. Fashion forward as we like to be, consumers might want to be looking at a label of another sort. In order to protect your eyes from the sun’s damaging effects, sunglasses should protect you from both UV-A and UV-B rays. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet light reflected off sand, snow, water or pavement can damage the cornea. And the cumulative effects of UV exposure can put you at risk for cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. According to The American Academy of Ophthalmology UV exposure combined with wind and dust also puts you at risk for benign growths on the eye’s surface called pterygia.
So, while you are out romping around in the sun this summer, and all year long, protect your eyes. The Food and Drug Administration says to buy glasses that protect 99-100 percent UV-A and UV-B rays and that offer the most coverage; wrap around is best. Wear a hat with a wide brim. That goes for kids too.

No, but staring too long into the sun can cause blindness. So don't try to look at the sun or even try to glimpse at it because it can also cause damages to the layers of your eyeball in the long run. Wear sunglasses when you are out.

Yes, in a way. This one time, in band camp...LOL
Seriously though, in band camp one time I got totally burnt from being outside all day, and I wasn't into sunglasses. Unfortunately, by the end of the day my eyeballs were red and very uncomfortable. So wear your shades, even if you look like a dork!

Yes, any tissue in your body can be sunburned. It might not look like the burns you'd get on your skin; but when sun burns your eyes, the consequences can be severe because it can eventually lead to blindness. Sunglasses are good!

Yes, of course. That's why all the booths make you use those little plastic shade thingies. Too much sun can burn the retina of your eye...at least my eye doctor told me so. He insists that I wear sunglasses when I'm outside ALL the time - medications can make you even more susceptible to sunburn.

I would recommend not staring into the sun. Sunburnt eyeballs=blindness.

Yes. Snow skiers get that a lot if they don't wear
sunglasses or protective eyewear.
