The river is in fact a river, even if the banks fo the river in some areas are man made. Which we would normally classify as a canal, but in essence it does the same theing all other rivers do - runs to the sea.

Are you sure, i live off the hudson in Tarry town and it does run along the banks, and on the other side, there is even a couple of beaches.

Get out of the city. It's a very nice, picturesque river if you choose to leave Manhattan and see what the country looks like.
