What are we referring to when we say I? It can't be the soul, because we say: "my soul" so we can't be our soul because it is shown as being in possession of ourself .We say my heart, my soul, my body, my mine, who has possession of this? Me? Who is me? There is my name, my thoughts, my life, my possesions etc. but yet we can never identify who this person is who has possession of us.

Technically, we can be our soul, our body or our mind....if one of the latter truly is the self, then saying "I am my soul(or body or mind)'' is no different to saying ''I am myself(note: MY self)"

Gooood question. I would say the "subject", unidentifiable, universal, the great " I ". As I perceive us and everything to be one.
This answer is meaningless to a lot of people but its enough in my view.

Well, there's the Ego = I

What is this ego = I ?

It is a desire; a desire to receive. That's why I, me, my, mine all refer to this reality, that's who you are, a desire to receive.

You want because you lack and you also want to be filled, of course; so you suffer when you're not satisfied.

Ego = I = Lack = Suffer

This is *that reality* that we all have to deal with *in time*

Good luck.... I mean, GOOD LUCK!

PS. Do you want more?

LOL

We are all linked together using the universal mind - all in the same soup - searching for clarity. Somewhere in our minds we know we are not separate so it it difficult to know who we are....
