Lorelai

I asked about the name Lorelai Sage (which we both like) and some people said they had trouble pronouncing it. I don't think so, but what is your opinion?

it's a beautiful name and I've known two women who had it as well. Only it's traditionally spelled "Lorelei" (although pronounced the same)

It has a story behind it too, so anyone doesn't like it, well too bad.

Lorelai is an easy name to pronounce, it's also very pretty. If people would have trouble pronouncing it, you could call her Rory for short. Lorelai Sage is a great pick.

What a beautiful name for a special child.

I had no problem in pronouncing the name. There are harder names out there that I do have trouble pronouncing. Consequently, wherever anyone goes, someone is going to butcher the pronunciation of a name. It is inevitable. Like going to a busy restaurant and having to put your name on the list. Then the hostess calls out "Sherri" and pronounces it like "Cherry".

So, do not worry about it and let the name live.

from someone who's name gets mispronounced often.

My sisters name is Lorelei (pronounced the same) and I love it! I dont think anyone messes up her name with that spelling and she is 27 with 3 kids, so lots of people have pronounced her name right. I think with the spelling change you should be fine. I love Sage though, great combo!

I don't have any problem pronouncing it. Some people are just lazy reading a name and are use to simple names or names they are already familiar with. It's a pretty name. I wouldn't worry what others think.

I don't have a problem pronouncing it, but maybe you could spell it Laurali or Lauralai, people spell Ashley like Ashlee or Ashleigh, go for a unique spelling that makes the pronouncation clear. Good luck, it is a pretty name.

Once I read the pronunciation I didn't have a problem no.

You *and your child* however will have to "put up" with people who are reading it for the first time slaughtering the pronunciation I'm sure.

But if you can handle that I say go for it. It is a very pretty sounding name with a very pretty spelling.

no not personally, and I think thats really pretty actually, but I can see some folks having a prob with it. I for some reason get alisha for ashlie from time to time cuz it's not the norm, some people are just to lazy to read! Great name tho!
