I'm sending out rent notices that say:

"A friendly reminder that rent is due. You owe ($$) that is to be paid by April 30, 2007. If unable to pay by the date listed, please contact Jennifer at (phone number) before the due date to make payment arrangements."

I really really want to put "OR ELSE" at the bottom..

Send them a picture of a horses head, remind them of The Godfather. That'll get the rent paid.

well you can I guess, does the lease specify the day the rent is due and is there a grace period or late fees, it really should be spelled out in the lease dear

How about an additional paragraph that says:

Please act promptly in this matter as failure to do so will result in further action being taken.
