I would have done exactly the same as you.
I always fear that if I say something, the parent will get angry and take it out on the child when they get home. So I keep quiet.
It's so heart breaking to have to see things like that. What I tell myself everytime is that the child will grow up and be able to move away from the vile parents someday.
Try not to worry, I know it's so hard but there is nothing we can do.

I own a shop selling baby and childrens clothes and the parent come in with the kids and I cant count the number of times the kids run around the shop, unsupervised, up and down the stairs etc and the parents dont even notice they are gone. I have now put a kids table for them to sit at and play nicely to try and keep them safe whilst the parents shop but I dont see why I should be doing the parents job. I dont have kids of my own yet but when I take my neices out, I dont let them out of my site at all, there are always stories in the papers of kids getting lost/abducted etc and I can see why it is so easy for this to happen. And the parents that do keep their kids close by are usually telling them not to touch, to be quiet, to sit down, to stop being naughty, nothing positive to the kids at all!! Why some people have kids in the first place is beyond me.

Nothing, since, even though it was mean, it isn't anyone's business, besides the parent's. There could be many reasons why the child couldn't have the candy (perhaps he DID misbehave at some point, or could have allergies, or be diabetic.......it's impossible to know). As the adult, it was mean to eat candy in front of the child, but it seems that his being overweight added to your anger. If he had been thin, would you have been as aggravated?

Thats a difficult situation and our reaction is likely to be different from reading this to if we were there.
Don't worry, this man sounds like a nasty piece of evil poo. Someone, somewhere will stick up to him oneday.
He would have frightened me as well, let alone the little kiddiewiddie.

i would of made a rude remark or something like that to him. that just isn't right at all. i would never do that to my 2 girls. it kinda sounds like this child is abused or something in that order. a child shouldn't look scared at his parent over a chocolate bar. that is just rude and nasty if you ask me about it. and i can see why this is in the pet section,,, the father seems to be the sons pet pig lmao

Yeah I agree, that is kinda mean, and i don't think it was nice of him to eat it in front of the little boy. And threatening him was wrong too. I'd like to say that I would step in to help, but honestly, I don't think I would. I don't have the courage to walk up to a big fat meanie probly 3 times my size.

I would have reported it to the social services because the license plate number is all you need.Because you don't know whats going to happen when that child gets home.

Thats just terrible, what kind of adult gets a kick out of bullying a kid? If I say anything I get worried that they'll take it out on the kid later on when there's no one watching. Poor lad, its no wonder so many kids grow up with problem behaviour if thats the kind of childhood they get.

you shouldn't have ignored it ( the situation ) this kid is still going to be persecuted .
you could have suggested to the 'bully' wheres mine ? and get the gist of whether or not he was a ' bully ' --- then you could have watched what vehicle he got in --- jotted down the number --- and reported the incident to the police --- just in case .
that kid is still going to be petrified --- and your inaction hasn't helped his cause --- have a nice day .
