I read the con handbook.

It said to buy a ribbon. Put it on your car.

Tell everyone you know you support the war.

It says once you do this America will become a safer place to live.

Anyone feeling the effects of my patriotic work?

For one thing, how can America be a safer place to live if you support a war. Do you know how America is viewed right now by the majority of the world? We do not look good to people out there and we are making more enemies as we go along. Iran and North Korea is next and we wouldn't have the manpower for all that. Afganistan is where a majority of the soldiers ought to be, Iraq posed no immediate danger at the time Bush started the Iraq war. Bush started this war on a simple notion. No proof was found for WMDs. America is becoming divided by people of political parties while Bush and Congress go at it, Democrats and Republicans have there own little war amongst themselves going on and someday if it doesn't stop, it could develope in an all out war amongst just the Americans in the U.S. Bush was supposed to be a Uniter and not a Divider. The war is going nowhere. Let the Iraqis handle their situation on their own. It can only be handled if the people of that nation sit down and come to grips with what they are doing to each other. The U.S. cannot continue to babysit and be killed each day when the Iraqis don't want us there.

By the way, I'd like to put a bumper sticker on my car that says "Impeach Bush" but too many people like you may be offended and do something to me or my car. If you put a sticker on your car that states you support people continuing to be killed, think of what many others with some common sense might do to you.

It is time people like you wake up and smell the corruption in the America and Bush Administration today.

I didn't vote for Bush so I'm along for the ride.

I didn't buy a ribbon ... I contributed with members of my community to buy equipment and supplies to ship to the military serving because they were not adequately equipped. (I live in a town, that among other things is a military town.) I also help support families of men deployed by helping the women find jobs or better working situations and resources to use while their spouses are away.

I donated my SUV gas guzzler to a local food bank and got an economy vehicle. I volunteer and my income trickles out of my own pocket, not from some benefit I got from the Republican plan to pass along to others. I am like most middle class Americans, I am strapped with a tax burden that comes from taxation without representation in our government.

I appreciate your sarcasm and your perspective. Your military service gives you an additional right to take a jab. But don't forget many in the military have those stickers on their vehicles.

As for the comfort zone ... I prefer to sleep with my "blankie", accept all faiths and say extra prayers. A sticker just doesn't stroke it for me. I'm wanting an exit strategy.

No I'm not feeling it yet. You need to write "Bring them home" in big, black letters on the other side of your "Support the Troops" ribbon in order for me to think you're being patriotic!!!

It's only the cons who think killing our young people is "patriotic". I'd prefer to see them in college or at least fighting in a war that has a purpose.

oh yeah, those plastic ribbons made in CHINA really make our troops feel great! They love being stuck in the Iraq quagmire and made to stay there by Bush and his bots. So, sure, buy a plastic piece of junk, put it on your car and feel like you too are fighting in Iraq. It's your duty as a patriot!

Yes,

Now you can be like bush and his cronies who live by this quote.

"A man may be a patriot without risking his own life or sacrificing his health. There are plenty of lives less valuable." - James Mellon - who paid $300 for a civil war Union army deferment.

The con handbook? I didn't get one, darn I always miss out. By the way, I know the sacrifices in Iraq today, will mean my two young boys won't have to fight that war tomorrow. I don't just support the war, I am personally grateful our government and our military was proactive when the previous administration preferred to let problems get out of hand before they acted, and then nearly wouldn't.

I will say that I support our troops very deeply; however, I DO NOT support the war. I have family there and after speaking to them and other military who have been there, I want to ask you, Do you know what the purpose of this war is anymore?

Yes, and thank you for your support... finally. You may think that this is too little too late, but we have faith in you and know that once you turn from the dark side, you will be a much better person for it.

The yellow ribbon is to support the troops. Not the war.

Go kick some rocks.

Now what? Now honor (look it up if you need to) your commitment (ditto) and resolve to FIGHT this war until we WIN it!

(win: be the winner in a contest or competition; be victorious)

Winning is always better than whining.
