one point as to why it must exist--inside the prison a "lifer" vile enough could kill other prisoners or guards when the opportunity presents itself and recieve no significant further punishment

I fully agree in the death penalty. The crappy part, with all the appeals they get, it costs the tax payer more to kill a criminal then it does to keep them alive for life in a prison.
I think the death penalty should be up to the victims family. If the criminal is convicted, they family should be able to say yes or no to them being put to death, on top of that, they victims family should also be allowed to decide on how they die. If they want, they can let them rot in jail, or lethal injection. Though, if they wish they should have the choise to have that person beaten to death. I'm all about an eye for an eye. If our justice system would put fear into the mind of criminals, some crimes wouldnt happen. Its pathetic a criminal has more rights then a victims family.

I think the problem with the death penalty is in the faults of the justice system.

As long as there are defense attorney's out to get someone off regardless if they did it or not and prosecutors out to put someone in jail whether they are innocent or guilty, any decision on punishment is flawed and unfortunately, you have to protect the ones that in jail in error.

If I was king of the world, this is what I would do.
(in the countries affected, get rid of that 'right to arms')
Therefore anyone carrying a weapon is likely to do so to use it. If you are caught with a weapon and aren't a police officer, you get the equivilent of a 2nd degree murder charge.
With the renewed interest in actual facts, if you are found guilty of rape or murder (with no room for error), it's the DP.
If you are put in jail other than for a rape or murder, you serve your time. If you get released and do anything other than a misdemeanor, you haven't learned. Death Penalty.

People abusing the public trust is much worse than regular fraudsters. Criminals in public office should not be let off with a slap on the wrist, in fact, they should have their sentence tripled.

My last recommendation. If a leader of a country is sending his/her country to war, they need to be on the front lines. Let's see how fast they come to an understanding.

Yes. Eye for an eye right? I personally think that there are too many people in this world that are just no good. We let these people breed and create more no good people. It's been proven that children who have a parent or parents who spend time in jail generally don’t do much better for themselves. We need to kill more criminals faster than we do now, and for more crimes than we do now. I would also like to see the punishment fit the crime, if your victim suffers, then so should you, but I know that will never happen.

If you ponder upon this , from an extreme point of view. Death sentence is like a revenge on a person's death (or other similar crimes) carried out on behalf of others. Given that the person actually did the crime, I think she/he should be sentence to death. But the problem lies on the system and its limitation to prove someone actually did the crime not the death sentence itself.

I think in certain circumstances it is necessary. For serial killers, rapists, molesters and such I feel that should be the only recourse. Why should we pay to for their upkeep the rest of their lives. Our jails our extremely overcrowded. I feel that if we had more severe punishments for crimes committed, there would be less crime.

In my area for instance, some are picked up for four and five DUI offenses. This is nuts. How many chances do they get before they kill someone. Child molesters have to register where they live, but they are out there waiting and watching for another chance. And they will commit their act again.

yes death to all criminals. the harsher the penalty the least likely they would brake the law. except traffic and deadbeat dads who don't pay there child support. I'm talking about fed crimes and crimes against humanity like murder rape assault except in self defense. the harden criminals run our jails as it is. besides regular county jails for small offenses. all other jails should just arm the convicts and let them kill each other off than it wouldn't cost the state anything to put them to death and this whole 20 yr bull were we have to feed them cloth them and so on. would save the tax payers millions.

In some cases yes. It is the proof of a civil society that we care enough for our weakest that we are willing to make sure the predators among us can never kill again. This should be done because some folks just need to be dead(think Dahmer)

the DP is given for SPECIFIC crimes that society deems too dangerous or too heinous to society.
For example, killing a cop hits the underpinnings of an orderly society
For example, raping a 9 yr old girl and burying her alive is too heinous
For example, hiring an assassin or lying in ambush to kill someone disturbs the normalcy of society

why?
1: to save us tax-payers, $$$ !
2: when someone breaks the law, and loses his life for doing so, how many do you think will continue to choose the criminal life.....dah!!!
3: are we taking life into our own hands....not @ all. one bad turn deserves another......why feed things that rape, kill, shoot, etc. ?............what do they have to fear? 3 meals a day/prisner lounges/and similar rights....why? did they consider these options for their victims?!! N O T *** . So, i say, do away with 'em, . reabilitate 'em....why? do you seriously believe we have x-amount of funds readily available for this......oh, please.....one bad turn , deserves another......how else could one expect to get thru to these type of individuals? dah.
use the prisioners money for after school activities.....invest in our future....NOT our "losers"........
