Lara is nearly 38 years of age, whereas Sachin is only 34 years. He may be confident that he may be able to regain his form and play for another year or two. He may be waiting to regain his form and retire at a most appropriae time.

Sachin is the best person to take the decision. Do you think there will be a period where one can piggy back on the team and be a burden. I don't think so. Also people pick Sachin when Team India doesnt' perform well but Sachin was our best player in the last two world cup and also look at his stats for last 2 years they may not be great set by his standards but still way better than others.
I agree Lara is a better Test player than Sachin but when it comes to ODI sachin is miles ahead.
If people think Sachin is the one who has to take India to victory in all the matches, why send others to the tour? Cricket is a team game.

Why Sachin should retire like Lara at 34 He still have good Cricket to play. He is a great piller in india team. Sachin is Sachin. Our fault is we cant enjoy the good game, we always look forward for win only.

yes... Sachin should retire although he is a great player and a very important part of team, can play for 1-2 years but it's better for him to take retirement. Lara is capable to play for 2-3 years but he took retirement.
To play for yourself is different that to play for Fans.Sachin is just loosing his class (age factor) and may play 1 or 2 good innings, is that enough? but if he continues , he would loose his feeling within Fans and people will consider.. money is important part in his playing.Although he is billioner but.. money is money..not enough . Same goes to Ganguli and Rahul. Rahul should not consider Captainship after the WC. But ..........
Sachin is old enough to decide and has very intelligent and supportive wife so whatever he decide.. that's final but should consider Fans' view.
Look for Glen Mcgrath.. Hopefully, Man of the Tournament and .. it would be last ODI... great.

Yes. Indian cricketers retire when they are thrown out of the team. I cant remember any major indian cricketer who has retired when he was playing good.
