If you work 40 hours a week and there are 52 weeks in a year, you are working 2080 hours in a year
$ 36,000 divided by 2080 hours = $17.307692/ hr. Your pay stub is correct

How much you earn per year depends on how many hours your work and your hourly rate. For example at your rate, if you worked 5 days a week at 7 1/2 hours a day for the 52 weeks your earnings would be $33,750. More hours would mean more pay. That doesn't take into account holiday loading or overtime, shift allowances, etc., but you get the guist.
If you were to work at that hourly rate and do 4 hours, 4 days a week for 40 weeks your income would be only $11,078.
A forty hour week would give you the $36,000. Just do the Maths.

If you have a full-time salaried position your hourly rate is calculated by dividing you salary by 2,080 (the number of work-hours in a standard year). Thus- 17.307692 is your standard rate. Obviously, if you work more than 40 hours per week your actual hourly rate will be lower and if you work less than 40 hours per week your rate will be higher.

A rough approximation is to equate a full time job with 2,000 hours per year. So dividing salary by 2,000 is a quick way to get an hourly rate. It's not the most accurate but usually close enough (in this case it is $36,000/2,000=$18/hour)

Yes, that's how much the hourly rate would be : 17.31x26x80=36004.80. (rounding up of course)
This was figured with biweekly paydays.

Yes, $17.31 is your hourly rate.
If you work full time (40 hours per week), you are working (40 x 52) hours in a year.
So...
36000 / (40*52) = 17.30769 per hour.
