It is well known that the oil industry loves Republicans because Republicans love them. The result of this love affair is the invasion of Iraq in order to gain control of Iraq’s vast oil reserves. Denying it won’t make it untrue.

Oversimplification is the key to befuddlement.

There isn't a political party in America that doesn't get contributions from big oil. OK, maybe the green party. But both major parties get major funding from big oil. That's never changed.

We're in Iraq because our president (and/or vice president) became obsessed with Iraq and the downfall of Saddam Hussein before the 2000 election. When the tragic events of 9/11 occurred, the only thing the administration was interested in is whether or not Iraq had anything to do with it.

The sad truth is, we won't get out of Iraq until we have a regime change here in the United States, and that's not going to occur until January of 2009.

Neither can I trust a political party in bed with

the climate change industry (Oh yes, big bucks at stake there),
the abortion industry, and
the greedy "educators" industry.

Everyone has an agenda. The question you should be asking is: If Iraq is for oil, why did we invade them when Venezuela with the largest proven oil reserves in the world and Canada with the second largest proven oil reserves (and possibly more than Venezuela) are so much closer?

Political parties are not to be trusted because they are an abstract collection of individuals with similiar ideas and very different ideas about a wide arrange of topics. They are a tool to be used for the advancement of ideas. Do not put your trust in political parties, but rather in ideas and the people that exemplify your ideals. The Oil Industry is embedded in all our lives, everything we do is connected to oil in some way. Do you trust yourself because you drive a car, use electricity, or mow the lawn?

We cannot trust any political party. They do not work in our best interest.

The political parties (Republicans, and Democrats) are in bed with the big business lobbyists that provide the election campaign contributions. This is why we have so many issues that help big business but hurt the people and nothing gets done about these (eg. eminent domain, illegal immigration, major trade imbalance with China, predatory lending, excessive bank and credit card service fees, outsourcing, etc).

Face it, WalMart, Exxon, Citibank, McDonalds, and Merck are your true government, unfortunately.

Wow, such a reputable site. Might as well be someones myspace blog. Stop drinking the kool-aid. The U.S. hasn't seen a drop of Iraqi oil. That is a fact. Do some research on that!

You might want to check your facts....politicians from EVERY party are invested in oil. Heck, even our savior, Al Gore, is loaded in oil stocks!! If you were smart, you'd own oil stocks, too!

Given how small a percentage of our oil comes from that region today, I find it laughable to believe we're there for the oil. It's much or plausible we chose to fight in Iraq because our vehicle based military has a strategic advantage fighting in open desert compared to the mountains of Afghanistan. Or does that make too much sense?

Why would it necessarily be "bad" to have close ties to the oil industry?

You assume a lot with this question.

The oil industry has your best interests at heart buddy. You'd better trust them.

Their bias has been showing for decades.

The republicans will mate with almost anything as long as it involves lots of money.

Republicans: the ultimate prostitutes of the political world.
