The name PT Cruiser includes the initialism PT, standing for and designating the car's platform as well as production code. The name also recalls the 1930s line of Plymouth Trucks known by the "PT" moniker.

I like the answers that were given ,but the P.T cruiser is a replica of an old fashioned Paint Truck from the 20s .I have had 2 P.Ts and my first one was a lemon so i called it the Part Time cruisr .

Party Time was indeed the original idea, but that was shelved and they just called it the PT Cruiser.

You know MARK, I've just retired from Chrysler and none of us ever knew what 'pt'stood for. So we just called them "party time cruisers". Maybe some of the other answers will enlighten both of us.

Hi
Apparently it stands for Personal Transporter, but I think it really stands for Piece of Tin.
Cheers
