Dear Angelface :
After reading the thoughtful fourteen answers above, In My case a simple answer is YES.
Then, the definition of "THINKING" has much to do with the answer.
Some above stated NO, when thinking is used to solve problems or plan for results.
Then others mixed feelings, emotions, values and a fat ETC.
I appreciate Your question as much simpler, so YES, what You think creates Your reality.
Making others believe in Your thoughts will make Your reality become theirs too.
As a resulting of such, Democracy has been built as a "universal" concept, and there are plenty examples of How a Thought has been made tangible, as technology too...
Good luck! Bear hugs! ;-)

Perhaps most of our "reality" is just made up. Like the concept of a "parking space". Just by painting some lines on the ground we influence the reality of drivers. (Not all drivers, of course. Some people can never park within the lines.) I would claim that these lines don't really mean anything and don't fundamentally change the space between them into a parking space.

I think our thoughts help to create reality. It's the old "half full/half empty" theory. If we practice being optimistic, we are likely to behave that way. A thankful heart is a happy heart. Stinking thinking is counterproductive. Happiness is a choice. Wear a smile whenever possible. Set realistic goals. Dream . Think big. Speak kind words of affirmation to yourself. Believe.

NO......this is a famous error..........a man once sent "I think therefore I am" and he made a huge error in this statement.
Thought is just a tool for solving puzzles and problems.
The human ego has meant thinking has become a disease in some people have turned in on themselves and they use it in self destructive ways. This is an error of creation and I am sure that evolution will eventually rectify this malfunction.
Thoughts are just labels, names, judgements, man made words. Thoughts cannot see truth, they can only see their version of the truth and everybodies truth will be different.
To truly see the world and to feel the world and to see truth you must live in a place beyong thought.....the silence beyond thought, the awareness.........that is who we are.
Thought is just the ripples on a great lake of profound depth.
Thought can build an atom bomb or solve a crossword puzzle but YOU have no interest in this things. The mind loves to get its teeth into problems but thought, when combined with the ego, is a dangerous and ugly beast.
Byond your thoughts and judgements there is a place within you that is so profound and in a permanent state of peace.......you just need to find it and this is called spiritual enlightenment.
To equate thought with reality or with existence is a gross misjudgement.

Why of course. We would not have cars, phones, or electricity if it would not have been imagined by a person at one time. Who knows what will be thought of in the next 100 years. Also, thoughts of intangible things, such as racism, or of freedom change the reality of the world, because thoughts affect actions. Actions create reality.

......Thoughts create your subjective reality, your impression of what's out there. But they don't create objective reality - what's out there.
Reality is really out there. If you bump into it, it will hurt. But your brain has it's own way of creating perceptions from the information provided by your senses. For one thing, you don't perceive everything around you...selective attention. Perceptions are combined with your feelings, thoughts, fanatasies, values, attitudes, needs, desires, analysis...all completely unique to you. What you experience as reality is subjective, and different with every human being.
The philosophers can debate this if they want, but this is the way it is.

I do, and I continue to experience it. I use to call it magick and have studied magick for years, but have now chosen the term "Manifestation"
I have found that what you think will manifest in your life. My most recent experiment was a blue feather, it took 22 hrs before I found it. It use to take longer 3 days to three weeks, but I continue to sharpen this skill and shorten the effectual time.
I also experience it in my business, just by thought I attract more business and vice versa,,,, needless to say I now have to be careful what thoughts I give energy to.
Do a search on manifestation, it is more sceintific than magick, and kind of touches upon how our minds actually effect the quantum world. Thoughts are things, especially ones charged with emotion.
Have fun, the world is as much a part of us as we are of it. Thoughts are adductive.

In some ways yes. I do think that we can become what we tell ourselves we are. It's the basic what goes in comes out theory. What you feed your mind will show on you as a person. I also think that sometimes we sabotage ourselves. We tell ourselves over and over that this won;t happen or we can't do this and sure enough, we can't. I think the more positive we feed our brains, the more positive our lives will be and vise versa.

Yes and no -
When I moved into my first apartment and realized that it was exactly how I always pictured it... yes.
But I think about some really terrible things that probably aren't going to happen... so maybe those thoughts manifest as their opposites.
