Yes! Are people that lazy. I don't even know what half the abbreviations are for! Did you see that commercial about the girl talking to her mom in all abbreviations, I think it was a cell phone commercial, but thats just ridiculous.

Sorta. It makes me have to think about the possible words the abbreviation could be. And I really hate it when I hear people using computer lingo while they talk (like OMG and LOL).

It all depends on where it is being used. For instance on here, when you are trying to get the words done quickly, I don't mind. But like in an email I don't think it is appropriate.

heh well at first i tried correcting everyone..and came to the conclusion that was extremely irritating....i've sort of grown to it now-and besides, its a much faster way of communicating....you also don't need to press the backspace button every two seconds...i guess it depends on what type of person you are...i used to be something like a perfectionist but i gave up on the whole idea...

sometimes its okay.
but if people start talking and randomly say "lol" in person, then its way out of control.
abbreviations are useful for people who cant type very fast, but shouldnt be used so often that they accidently get put into school reports. haha. :]

It took getting used to. But it is the current vernacular, and not that hard to learn - I am 57, and get a good deal of it, IMHO.
