There are different kinds of love.
-The kind of love you feel for a special person in your life. You feel a special connection or bond with them and feel their pain or joy as if it were your own.
-The kind of love that you feel at the beginning of a lovers relationship. I don't mean lust, but you feel you couldn't live without that person.
- And then the kind of love you feel once you have been through the best and worst times with a person. You feel content and can speak for hours or say nothing at all. It is the kind of love your grandparents still have when they hold hands under a blanket. That is the most beautiful of all.

Love as a general concept means caring. The concept changes depending on what specific kind of love you are talking about.
Romantic love involves an intense focus on another person, with a desire to be with them, to do things for them, to interact with them in a way more intimate than with others. It usually includes sexual attraction to the other person. It includes a certain blindness to their faults, though this trait fades with time. How well love is expressed is largely due to the psychological development of the person expressing it. If someone is not a whole person in their own right, love is usually expressed as demanding, clinging, and controlling. If the person is a whole person, it is supportive, cherishing, and lifts the other person up.
Parental love is to a certain extent biological, formed at birth by certain pheromones and geared to raising the young to breeding age safely. It is usually selfless, although unfortunately not always.
Love of a friend is similar to romantic love but without the intense focus or sexual attraction. It is patient, supportive, and the focus is less intense, usually expressed as a desire to be with the person or have contact with them on a fairly regular basis.
