1) Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy. (The passing of the USA Patriot Act on Oct 26 2001.)

2) Create a Gulag (Guantanemo Bay)

3) Develop a thug caste. (Outsourced security contractors)

4) Set up internal surveillance .( Phone taps on citizens,emails scrutinized etc.)

5) Harass citizens' groups. (Target peaceful protests anti war rallies,meetings etc etc.

6) Engage in arbitary detention and release. (Scare people and target them for security searches if they fly. Australian (first allies into Iraq !) mandatory detention and detainee abuses !

7)Target 'key' individuals. (Toe the line or lose your job ! )

8) Control the press. (Punish journalists who rightly portray Bush as the criminal that he is.)

9)Treat dissenters as guilty of treason.

10) Suspend the rule of law. (U.S.President effectively becomes dictator).

All in all a 'closing down of society' ? Correct ? Well now... Does this not smack of the tactics used by Hitler and Mussolini ?

by control of the media, allowing a privately owned body to effectively run the country (dictate tax levels, foreign policy, labour laws etc). i'm talking about the federal reserve here. the word federal fools some people, but surely not all?!?!?!?

the US (and other countries) need to take back the onus and right to print money. at the moment, a few bankers basically run the world. call it scare mongering if you like, but things are going to get a lot worse. any americans on here? you pay income tax? you know there is no law says you have to? yet still millions do. why?

it's basically an economy based on debt (money out of thin air) and growth. this growth though, can never catch up ith the debt, and so even more money is needed, leading to even more debt. with the curent system, we will end up with world wars or mass starvation as economies fight it out for the last dregs of the earth. call me a 'liberal' a 'leftie' whatever. oh, there's always the 'mad' one. but really, have you ever wondered why neocons are so vociferous at times? it's because they're either ignorant (brainwashed) or quite frankly, are petrified that the truth will come out.

I wonder what you would be saying if no security measures where undertaken leaving the country open to further attacks by terrorists. i suspect that you would be annoyed and blame the government for not taking the necessary measures to defeat terrorists. (the government cant win!)- Also you should note that since these measures have been in use! , there has been no further attacks against The US!. mainland . So instead of moaning about things you should be grateful that the measures have been a sauces!.
