I think the funniest thing about this question is how so many people took it seriously.... all I have to say is that you can no more convince someone not to be gay than you can teach them not to be a racist, smart mouth, patronizing bigot.

Ignoring that above girls advice to be gay for her pleasure. I assume your a avid chirch go-er from the whole "burn in hell" thing.
Its not going to matter what I say about accepting your friend for who he is because you are going to stick to your beliefs anyway. So ill tell you a bit about gays
Dont get me wrong, im not pro-gay nor anti-gay. im just sitting on the fence. Being gay is not a std or a mental infliction. It could of been realised at some point in his life due to certian things.
Long story short, you cant convince a guy to not be gay, just as we cant stop you from having sex, or listening to the music you listen to. Its likely a part of him and if you cant accept it its better off if you go find another friend!

Why would you want to make your friend not be gay? Friends are supposed to like each other for the things that make that person him or her. If she/he is gay, yea you might not like it, but as a friend you should be there for that person. Now is the time they probably need you the most, so be there for your friend and help him/her get through this instead of trying to change him/her.

That is a very good question. I myself have this very same problem and I have learned something from this expercience. This is their opinion and and choice to become gay but there is something we can do about it. I don't know if you are a christian but the only way to help your friend is to lead them to God. Once they believe in God then you still must try to help them understand what their doing is wrong but even if they do die gay but they believe in God they will enter heaven anyways and be welcomed with open arms no matter what.

You cannot. As long as your friend does not practice the act, just like with any sin, he/she needs not be concerned. Plus, there is no eternal burning Hell, that is a missconception. If you study your Bible thoroughly you will see that there is no grounds for the belief of eternally burning hell fire. The wicked will be CONSUMED! They will no longer exist. Our God of Love will not torture forever and ever.
Tell your friend to get to know the Lord. He is the only one that can help any of us who are in sin.

You probably cannot convince him with anything you say. Show him scriptures in the bible that clearly show it is immoral (see below, 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11, NIV) and PRAY for him.
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

Oh wow..Looks like you are a judgemental one. Who are you to say who goes to hell and who does not? A book? Mass? No. Only God decides what fate a person may have once you die. If he/she is gay, they are still human just like you and I. A wonderful heart..but a different choice of lifestyle other than your own. Respect that and you'll earn points.

it's not YOUR decision and it's not YOUR life, it's his, although i know u guys may be close friends still u don't have the right to say stuff like that u can't just say whatever u want thinking he'll understand and listen to you.. saying stuff like this won't help and never include a religious point of view.... u gotta let it go because u can't force someone to believe the same things as you, if he wants to be gay let him go ahead and be gay, that's how he feels and likes it, how would u like it if someone forced YOU into something? wouldn't u rebel and continue to follow your heart?
