Hi I use a pentium 3 processor with 733 MHz clockspeed, and a gigabyte 6BX7 mother board. I want to run my processor at a higher speed and use some more RAM (my mother board does not support more than 128 MB)

What should I do to over clock my processor?

Can I run it to 1.5GHz, and use some 400 Bus RAM, and PCI Express cards with it?

Even if you did overclock, it would still suck tremendously. You need a serious upgrade. And don't buy Intel unless you are getting core 2. AMD is beats all of intel except for core 2.

Can I run it to 1.5GHz? NO (well, you could but you fry it almost instantly).

Can I use some 400 Bus RAM - NO

Can I use PCI Express cards with it? NO

Moreover, I doubt you have any overclocking options on that ancient motherboard. If it only take 128 MB how are you going to add more? PCI and AGP cards I suspect, PCI Express is a different size slot, like PCI and AGP are different.

Give it up it's not going to overclock significantly!

Better read first some basics of overclocking so that you will understand the significance and impact of every adjustment you will make and so that you will not be surprised by sudden BSOD. You might find some pointers here:

Also do not expect great overclocks from a non-enthusiast motherboard. Your board supports up to 768Mb RAM and it only has an AGP slot. More details here:

You can not use ddr400 RAM, only SDRAM. You could try PC133 sdram for overclocking. 1.5Ghz will just be a dream.

To overclock, you would need to have facilities to increase FSB speed in BIOS. At 733 MHz, FSB speed is probably 133 MHz with FSB-CPU multiplier of 5.5. Using PC133 RAM, it is unlikely that you will be able to make this run at faster than 140 MHz with the CPU at 770 MHz. Even then, the CPU might need amore powerful fan.

Read geniass' golden rule about poking around with hardware:-

``If you ask whether you can, the answer is yes; but if the question is how to do it; then the answer is `you better not do it'!!''.

over clocking may damage your processor or motherboard due to excessive heat ... and due high frequencys ....

you may run it but you have to some colling arrangment for your processor..
