Which is best????

"Best" can mean alot of things...

Looks? Both are great looking cars, and it's ultimately subjective. Though Lamborghini has been among the most consistently stunning cars since they were introduced. Though I tend to prefer the more functional appearance Ferrari has, I would give Lamborghini a slight edge here.

Performace? Both look great on paper, but the fact is, Lamborghini lacks real racing expereince, and it always shows in their complete inability to assemble a quality chasis capable of handling the power they put into the car. Ferrari makes one of the best balanced, most technologically advanced packages anywhere. While Lamborghini has improved much since being owned by VW, they are still well behind Ferrari.

History? Well, do you favor the maker of farm equipment or one of the most successful and storied auto racing teams ever? No contest, a complete Ferrari victory here.

Competition? Again, you are matching up a company with success at the highest levels in many forms of racing, against a company that has tried and come away... well, to say Lamborghini has come away empty handed makes it sound like they've done so much better than they have. All Ferrari here.

Company? Both have been bought out by larger companies. Ferrari by Fiat in the 70s as a means to support a larger racing budget, and Lamborghini has changed hands a few times finally coming to rest with VW. Ferrari is the crown jewel of the Fiat empire, while Lamborghini is at least valued by VW. However, the telling sign of value was how quickly Lamborghini was rumored to be for sale the moment it seemed like Fiat might sell Ferrari (and that VW could have a shot at buying them). Slight edge to Ferrari here.

Overall, I think Ferrari comes out on top in most ways that you can compare. But Lamborhini does have an appeal that Ferrari doesn't, and maybe that is directly related back to it's origins at wanting to be a better Ferrari. It didn't really succeed at being a better Ferrari, but it did succeed at being one of the world's most stunning and exotic cars.

So most likely, Ferrari is "best," but depending on just what you want to define compromises that undefined best, Lamborghini still is there.

Water or fire, the Moon or the Sun, the sky or the earth...No one will ever be able to tell you which of these fine automakers is the best. Because there is no "best". There is better: 'better reliability', beter 'gas mileage', better materials, better heritage, but never just "best". All the people have opinions, that doesn't mean someone's opinion is to be adopted as the sole true opinion. In my opinion, Ferrari is better than Lamborghini, because it has a great history in racing, because I think the Ferrari cars are better looking, because I like the philosophy of Ferrari, because of the Enzo, and because the engine is made by one man, which has to sign it.
