How are we meant to know whether iron would sort you out or not? Why ask a stupid question like that- all you'll get are people going yeah, no or maybe and you're none the wiser. There's nothing else people can say is there- all you've said is that you're tired. Would drs have to train for years and years if you could diagnose a health condition and recommend a treatment as easily as that? No, probably not. Make sure you're eating properly, getting enough (not too little OR too much) sleep, and are getting some exercise everyday and if you're still having problems ask your doctor. Sorry to rant, it's just Yahoo Answers is so obviously not the place to ask things like that- if you'd seen your doctor and they'd prescribed iron for you and you then asked, how long does it take before you notice the difference, then people on here could give you a idea and that would be a worthwhile question but your question is like saying "I'm bored all the time, would a book help?" How are we meant to know?

Not unless you have an iron deficiency. If you don't have a lack of iron it actually becomes toxic, being deposited in the liver.
If your tiredness has been present for 4 weeks or more, and you have no more specific symptoms, go see your GP. Most doctors will do their own version of a ' tiredness screen '.
This basically involves checking bloods, urine and sometimes if indicated a chest x-ray.
I check full blood count, ESR,CRP, liver function tests, thyroid function tests, blood sugar, urea and electrolytes and immunoglobulins.
To be frank 90% of these screens are negative and we end up telling the patient it has probably been a virus.
The pick ups are generally anaemia,underactive thyroid and diabetes.

You shouldn't take iron tablets if you are not anaemic - it might not be good for you. Eat a balanced diet, get plenty of sleep, a little exercise and try and keep motivated. I often get tired (especially at weekends when I relax a bit more!) I try and pretend I have lots of energy! - sometimes help. Don't worry, your body goes through the phases occasionally. If you feel unwell with your tiredness go to the GP.

You need to talk to your Doctor to find out why you are tired could be any mount of things causing it Stress, Under active Thyroid ,Anaemia, he will give you the right tests, taking iron when your body doesn't need it can cause problems too

It depends on why you are tired and the only real way to help yourself is to see your Dr for an examination and tests. Excess tiredness is a symptom of something being wrong and is also a base symptom of many illnesses.

A blood test can help you discover any underlying problem.Diet plays a big part in how you feel too.I'm more tired this time of year as I'm more active in the longer, lighter evenings.Walking, gardening,swimming etc.

After all tests are exhausted, via your GP, and treatments without success,could point to an infection-I would be looking at lyme disease / borreliosis as a possible cause.See site below for expert diagnosis,often unavailable via GPs,in my experience,with regards to lyme disease. Its no good a doctor saying it was an infection if you still have the symptoms.

A visit to your primary care provider would be in order for a complete blood workup to rule out anemia, hypothyroidism, diabetes, etc. Never start a supplement program without first consulting your PCP and getting his or her advice first.
So many underlying issues can cause fatigue, there's really no way to diagnose it without a physical examination.

Only if your tiredness is because of an iron deficiency. You could try some supplements; but if they don't work, somethingelse is going on and you should talk to your doctor.

Try takng iron tablets, but if you don't feel better soon you should go to your doctor. They will be able to do a blood test to check on certain things. It could be a lack of iron, but it could be any number of other things.
