Instructions say to unplug computer and insert card( i did) , i plugged it back in, push on button, nothing happened (computer would not turn on). i took out card without unpluging the power chord, computer started up (by itself). i'm thinking that my pci slot is 64 bit, not 32 bit, any ideas?
I'm in no way computer savvy.

Never insert PCI cards with the power cord plugged in! You risk frying the card or your PC.

If the card fits in the slot then it's the correct type.

Make sure it fits in properly - it should clip neatly in place on the motherboard and have the connectors (if any) visible at the back of your PC.

Now re-insert the power lead and turn the PC on.

You might need to install the driver first. This normally comes on CD with the PCI card. Without this, your D-Link card might not be operational. Check the mini user guide that came with the card first though.

Call Dlink or your vendor, it sounds like the card is defective.
