America is not good without an enemy, real or imagined, and with the likes of McCarthy, a very real madman with no imagination, communist were the bait in the US, just as the Jews were in Germany.

And yes, latter day, its the Muslims, and anyone who has dark skin. America is Goliath assuming everyone is called David, while the whle thing is called paranoia.

The American Government keep the sheep scared so that they will run off the edge of every cliff the President tells them to, just because he said so.

I don't distrust atheist, I have a few in my family and I love them very much and I have a few friends that are also. They are not like some of the ones on here that not only are atheist, but anti-christian. There is a difference. Most atheist that I know couldn't give one hoot in hell about what christian's do. It is the anti-christian's that I distrust because they are not driven by their lack of belief but by their hate for us. It has been about a half hour since you asked this and about twenty since I put my answer on here. Do you see Jim Co. response that is what I'm talking about a real atheist probably wouldn't even care. Culture warrior is wrong also, an atheist doesn't hate God, they dont believe in God so how can a true atheist hate him. See the difference and where we have trust issues with some and not others.

I guess none of these guys ever read animal farm. Anyway, yes, Americans are told to hate communism and anything socialist or to do with supporting their own rights. Although both ideologies (capitalism and communism) are based to achieve equality, they both have pretty lousy track records, it's just that capitalism has cleaner laundry. It's synonymous with soviet Russia, and the murderous Stalin.

Stalin killed millions - including his old school friends. That wasn't communism in action, Karl Marx never wrote 'Let's kill everyone'. Communism was taught as wrong because it posed a threat to the USA in the early 1920's. By the 1950s the CIA were collaborating with ex-Nazis in the spy wars, that's how scared we all were.

If you think about it, Communism works, right? Russia and China hold half the world's population. But look what happened when Capitalism was enforced on south america, Africa? That's right, millions in poverty. That's one way to look at Communism. That's not the whole story, but the trouble is you don't get the full story, only two legs bad, four legs good.

Communism and Islam couldn't be any different, it's like eating cereal with gravy. But people who try to find connections with them are just using it to spread fear and promote their own agenda. And they need an enemy everyone can jear at.

We are taught about all sorts of governments around the world. We aren't taught to hate Communist or Muslims. We only wish the rest of the world could see how wonderful freedom is and want others to experience it.

Our teachers are full of Liberals and Communists. We are usually taught America is wrong on every subject. I have never heard of Islam being hated and In fact they taught us about the greatness of them. Our Movies ( think Aladdin) showed them in a great light. 9/11 did change some things for sure. so did the images of how the Taliban treats women.

Celtic what a crock! we did not want to get into ww1 or 2 and have many Germans living in America. The Commies threatened US first! and we did not Know shiite about Islam until getting a couple of whacks from them.

Americans are the most mind controlled bunch on earth. They are taught to hate without actually seeing of knowing what it is. Taught is not the word

Your focus is backwards.
Society in the USA is based on the individual. The individual is supreme. The individual holds all powers. The governments has no powers unless given by the individual. Capitalism, the private ownership of wealth, is vital to this freedom.
The countries you mention are the opposite. Look at the government of the muslim nations that the USA is at odds with. All of them have state ownership of wealth, which is their oil reserves.
These countries and communists countries put government above the individual. This makes the U.S. their foe by ideology.
Do not buy into the concept that the USA is evil. This is what repressive governments tell their people in order to stay in power.

Having grown up around the world as a child, I think from actual observation that most Americans are “somewhat” open to other peoples and cultures. That being said most are also somewhat narrow minded in desiring to compare everything to the home they had. Probably older people are considerably more tolerant of others because most of our fathers and grandfathers fought overseas and brought home stories of strange and wonderful lands.

At the risk of sounding somewhat biased myself I think most younger people (for those of you who cannot discern written English – this is a generalization) are more concerned with themselves and how anything affects them. This is one of the best things of spending some time in the military – it allows a considerably better worldview and sets their sights off themselves and onto others. Lastly, I would propose that the educational system has failed to engage most younger students in their rights and responsibilities as a citizen of the United States and even as a human in the world as a whole. Spending any amount of time reading these boards certainly validates that assumption.

"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. . . . You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
- Winston Churchill, in his initial speech as Prime Minister to the House of Commons (10 May 1940)

Communists and terrorists are portrayed as bad in the American education although there are valid reasons for being a communist and a freedom fighter. Nowadays, the focus of hate is against the terrorists who are considered sowers of violence.
