Smart falls under the wing of Mercedes. not doing so well at the moment

The Smart Fortwo is built by Smart (formerly MCC, for Micro-Car Company) in Hambach in eastern France. Smart is part of the Mercedes-Benz Car division of DaimlerChrysler.
The concept started as a joint-venture between Volkswagen and Swiss watch manufacturers Swatch. Volkswagen dropped out at the concept stage, and Mercedes-Benz joined forces with Swatch to get the car into production. Swatch has since sold its shares to Mercedes-Benz, which now owns the company outright.
The Smart Forfour was built by Mitsubishi in their NedCar plant in the Netherlands, which also builds the Mitsubishi Colt.

DO NOT GET A SMART CAR!!! Are they safe in a crash? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I wouldn't drive one of these coffins on wheels if they paid me. Never has such a blatant disregard for human safety ever been allowed on the road!! If you don't believe me check out my blog on the smart car....WARNING...it contains VERY GRAPHIC accident photos of someone in a smart car. The guy is literally hauled away in pieces....AWFUL!! Had he been driving a normal sized car he might have lived....Smart cars have not been tested for safety at highway collision speeds!!!! I'm tellin you, you would not survive in one of these cars...

Smart car's were originally manufacture by Smart in Germany, however they were then purchased by MB.

Mercedes (DaimlerChrysler) manufactures it although I believe that Swatch was somehow engaged in the design of it.
