Hiya, I am six months pregnant and i have heard that if you tear down there whilst having a baby they have to stitch you back up, apparently this is the most painful thing throughout the entire pregnancy. Is this true and does everyone tear?

The stitches can be uncomfortable while they're healing. But if you have an epidural prior to labor, you won't feel the stitches being put in. And not every woman will need to be stitched.

If you have stitches: it will hurt to sit down for a few days or so, depending on the size of the episiotomy or tear. Ask your dr. to do an episiotomy if necessary, and not let you tear first. A straight, clean cut heals quicker than torn muscle and skin.

Get yourself one of those rubber donut things, or a pillow to sit on for awhile.

I"ve had three babies all boys. The second child ripped me from front to back. I didn't feel them stitch me. I was to numb and I had no epidermal. You will hear alot of horror stories, because I think it's human nature that when someone gets pregnant people have to tell you what they went through. I don't think the stitches was the worst part. It's the labor, but I will say once the baby has arrived you wont feel a thing. The stitches will be a nuisance and sitting on a sitz bath will help heal the process. You might not have to worry about that, every-body's pregnancy is different. You might not even tear, just listen to your Doctor and nurses. When they say to push, push, when they say not to push don't, and that is easier said than done. So have a good pregnancy and delivery and let people talk because they will, and remember nobodies pregnancy is the same. CONGRATULATIONS

It is definitely uncomfortable but by no means is it the worst. In fact not even close to it. I wasn't aware that I had torn as it's difficult to distinguish which pain is which at that point, but I did and I had a ridiculous amount of stitches, but while this was being done I had my new baby son in my arms! So yes, I was having a nasty down there stitching job, but at the same time I was in heavan! The stitches take can take a few weeks to come out and depending on where they are can make walking around too much quite unpleasant. Not everyone tears though, you might be one of the lucky ones, but even if you do, rest assured IT'S NOT THAT BAD! Good luck!

They are uncomfortable. I wouldn't say they are the most painful thing in the pregnancy though. You'll be so busy with the baby that your stitches won't be the first thing on your mind. You have to be careful when going to the bathroom. No pushing. You will probably want to take a stool softener. Good luck!

I had my daughter 2years ago and tore whilst she was coming out. I didnt even feel them stitch me up because i was so numb down there. It does hurt for a few weeks after though and passing urine hurts when the urine hits the stitches. The trink is to lean forward when your urinating and put ice packs down there to reduce the swelling. But to prevent a tear listen to when the nurses tell you to push and you shouldnt tear.

I comprehend completely what you're dealing with. I tore slightly, basically some million/2 inch down. yet I have been given stitches, and it burned whilst i might bypass pee, and having bowel movements is EXCRUCIATING, i comprehend, I cried so complicated, and that i held it in as much as i might desire to because of fact it grew to become into so painful... It did not tear returned, it did heal, after 4 weeks it felt SOO plenty greater helpful. that's been 8 months now. the area has healed o.k.. there is slightly of scar tissue, yet not something significant. that's surely not as undesirable as i presumed it may be. And there is not any soreness now in any respect. I waited till i grew to become into 9 weeks postpartum earlier I had intercourse returned, in simple terms because of fact the assumption itself grew to become into frightening. It took a good month when you have lively returned for me to loosen up and not think of roughly it, yet now that's like it never handed off.

Everyone does not tear. As for being the worst thing? That all depends. It was not the worst for me. No matter, you forget all about everything that happened. If you didn't no one would have a second baby!

i didn't tear they did a episiotomy they numb you before they cut you if you don't tear so being cut is not pain full but i would have to say i had a 7 hour labor with my first because i moved to fast i had natural labor that was painful since it was all back labor.

I had them, and it wasn't anything terrible at all. The only time they bothered me was when I was moving from my old apt. to my new one, and constantly going up and down stairs. It got a little irritating, other than that they itch when they are healing. I never had any painful experiences with it.
