I have been a white person for a long time now and no one has ever called me a honky. I have been called a honky tonk before but I stopped wearing that dress. I have no idea what honky means, whether it has any historic connotations or whether it is generally accepted in slang as being insulting to white people because, like I say, no one has ever said it to me. My best friends when I was growing up were black and I have always worked with black people and have never heard the word beyond the confines of Starsky and Hutch.

Not offended , amused !

Obviously people who use it do so to offend or else there would be no point to it . It really is a nothingness word & as such totally irrelevant !

Like all words used to offend , treat it with the contempt it deserves , more important issues to be concerned about !

We shouldnt be using racial terms like this to define people. Its a double standard, it seems other racial groups feel its ok to call one group of people *onkys or *rackers and the public accepts that. If someone was to call another non-white group of people a name its considered a racial slur and you could end up in serious trouble. So if you are white, the public isnt outraged by racial slurs towards you but if you are of another race then, WOW the *hit will hit the fan. Its a double standard..I feel the word *onky IS a racial remark and it should not be tolerated in our society.

Tell me what it means and I'll tell you. To be honest I really don't get offended by racist remarks. I feel sorry for the person that they have to stoop that low and feel that the issues lie with themselves. I see it that we all have to try and llive together in this life so we may as well be pleasant to each other and open minded.

No I dont, I remember that word from the old tv show "love thy neighbour" it was very funny and I too recently watched Rising damp, that is so funny, but NO way would that be allowed on tv now. Its a shame, as it is just harmless banter.

Only insecure people can be offended by words that describe their race by other races, You will find 95% of whites don't care because they wouldn't want to be any other color. Little words can't hurt beauty.
