What is the best play be Shakepeare?

I liked the book. Mainly because I learned a little more about prose but I really loved the film with Al Pacino. It put things in better perspective for me.

Shylock is an angry man (yeah yeah we all know that) But you can see why. It's a lot like being like Carrie in high school.

My favorite is how the wife tests their husbands. I makes sense in different ways every time i go back to it. As you get older some new things make sense.

It's tough to pick a best play by Shakespeare since the majority of them are so great, each in its own way. The Merchant of Venice is one that tops my list, accompanied by Macbeth, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Julius Caeser, and Hamlet. Romeo and Juliet should probably be up there too, but I just had to see and/or read it SO many times in high school and college that I can't stand it anymore.

I absoloutely love the marchent of venice. I think Shylock makes the whole play. His "hath not a jew hands?" speech is the best part of the play and thats when you realise that he's not really the villain but the victim as well.
Portia makes the play worthwhile also,her charcter has to be one of the best Shakespeare invented.

However,my favourite comedy would have to be Much Ado About Nothing and my favourite tragedy has to be macbeth.

merchant is best comedy for me. best tragedy is hamlet in terms of human tragedy but overall the best in terms of craft and artistry, creativity and imagination is Othello. Nothing like the triangle of Desdemona, Iago and the moor. a hankie, "trifles as light as air/is to the jealous, proof of Holy Writ" and dead bodies gotta be interned for its sake. don't mess with a hankie!!
