Suffering from phimosis?

I am 27 yr man, soon to be married. My problem is that I am suffering from phimosis. My foreskin is very tight at the tip and does not expose my glan. Hence I do not get complete erection as my foreskin stops my glan from complete expansion. I acquired this problem 5 yrs back. What is the remedy for the same? Is there any other alternative to circumcision? If I go for circumcision surgery, how long will it take for the penis to heal and be functional for sex/intercourse

In most parts of the world phimosis is very successfully treated without surgery. In the US doctors (often circumcised themselves) like to take the way that is easiest and most profitable FOR THEM. But it's not their ***** being permanently mutilated! The only real medical indications for circumcision are frostbite, cancer, or gangrene in the foreskin area. All three are extremely rare.

Try stretching the skin very gently with your fingers. It's usually easy to do in a warm bath, or else use some baby oil or lotion. Just hook your fingers on two sides of the skin and pull until it just starts to hurt - no more - hold a few seconds, relax, and then repeat. If you do this as often as you can for a couple of weeks, the skin will probably start to loosen. If not, do ask the doctor for some hormone cream to help. If all this sounds slow and tedious, just think of the weeks of pain you are likely to endure after a circumcision! You'll be ready for marriage a lot faster with stretching than with circumcision.

Take a look at the excellent information at http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis You'll need to scroll past the stuff about babies, but there are a lot of good links. Good luck - and don't let anybody chop off your foreskin! Get a second - even a third - opinion before you let anyone near your penis with anything sharp!

Which problems may a tight foreskin cause? A tight scarred foreskin – also called phimosis – can last throughout life and not cause any trouble at all. It's normally the patient’s decision whether to have an operation or not. If any problems do arise they usually happen after puberty when sexual activity begins. The tightness may occur for the first time as an adult and usually requires an operation (circumcision). There might be trouble urinating. Infections may occur under the foreskin. At erection, a contracted foreskin may cause trouble by hurting when an attempt is made to pull the foreskin back. It may not go back over the glans before the penis is limp again. If the foreskin becomes inflamed in this position it may lead to paraphimosis, where the foreskin becomes inflamed and painful. This itself may require surgery to rectify. Pain during sexual intercourse. Very rarely, a malignant growth can occur in a long-standing phimosis.

I suggest that you speak to your doc and discuss the different options with him.

I am sure that there are alternatives to circumcision like different stretching techniques but your doc will be able to provide you with the required information.
