Are we prepared as a country to deal with the mental health issues that many of the US soldiers will have when they return from the war? Are there programs in place to help them get acclimated to being back home after being away for so long? What percentage of troops return from any war with mental health issues? Thanks

absolutely not. we are not prepared. these troops are fighting for our dignity now. it is time to become pro-active.
I believe the m.h. issues won't oppress them immediately, but eventually. also, I'm willing to bet after a years return the percentage will round 66%..or more..

As a veteran of the Gulf war, I suffer from PTSD as do many soldiers who return. There are some programs in place but not nearly what is needed. I basically got on a plane, spent 2 days in Germany being deprogrammed and then I was back home in the real world so to speak. It is a very strange transition and hard to just "be normal" the day you return. It's actually very surreal. We need to do more for our soldiers or we are going to have a worse mental health crisis than we already have. Look at all the veterans who were forgotten after Vietnam. Those are many of the homeless on our streets today. Our soldiers deserve better for defending our country.

The V.A. has some stuff in place. I know they are trying to get a video tape out telling soldiers what the symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome are, and that they have people who can help if the soldiers will come in.

I think they need to probably make it mandatory for soldiers to come in to fill out the PTS questionnaire after they've been back a couple of months. I think that way they'd kill two birds with one stone - everyone will know about the program, and they'd get a few of those people who think they can "tough it out" or feel ashamed they have a problem.

in case you cooperate you have extra recommendations, ring your wellness practitioner and ask for the disaster team type. The disaster team often bypass on your place and talk issues over with you, they're going to verify your project and are available to a determination no count if wellness midsection is magnificent. they often supply you a voluntary admission in case you refuse this could be somewhat yet you ought to talk day hospitals rather of inpatient care. you will no longer unfastened your activity, this is illegitimate to sack you simply by a wellness midsection admission. in case you experience such as you ought to overdose then this is maximum suitable which you're turning out to be the make it easier to % . it style of feels unusual that in the process previous questions you have been wanting to bypass into wellness midsection yet now have replaced your techniques.
