The licence fee should be abolished, and the signal scrambled (Although with the sh*t signal I receive here without Sky....it probably already is) and people should pay a subscription if they want to watch the politically biased sh*t that that they churn out!!.......So Mr 'Singlecell' (I take it you're talking about brain cells in your head there)........You'd rather have a left wing immigrant loving broadcasting company that WE pay for (Against our will and beliefs) that tries to brainwash.... (Easy in your case) people into 'political "correctness"' than a company which has 'commercial interests' well I hope YOU can afford it as the rest of us have had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it's unfair. People should have the choice of subscribing to the BBC or not. I love to watch television, but I hardly ever watch the BBC - it is definitely something I could easily live without. So I do feel it's wrong that they're allowed to force us to pay so much for a television licence. :-/

When you consider the outstanding output of the BBC, drama, comedy programming and documentaries that are commercially successful all over the world (take Absolute Power, The Blue Planet, Life On Mars, or Horizon just for a few), the cost of a couple of pounds a week is pretty good value ...

But I think they should make their programmin available online for license fee payers for free, and outside the Uk using iTunes, they could make a fortune from their archive!

kbw:
are the programs I mention above politically biased?

I just wish there was some way of deleting all teh BBC channels and radio stations from your TV and set-top box. I mean I only watch Casualty on the BBC, and from time to time I watch a few documentaries on BBC3 and their news, but other than that, I would happily pay for watching only Casualty and have a reduced license fee. Afterall, the majority of channels on TV are commercial, not BBC, so why such a high price for it?

The whole idea of making people pay for the BBC is totally undemocratic. In this digital age there should be a choice to view or not to view, if the BBC wish to continue with their non advertising programming. We all know that many Sky channels are scrambled unless you pay. The same should apply to the BBC, but with a Labour government that regularly runs roughshod over our freedoms, it is not likely.

i just think its really unfair that we should have to pay a tv license for the crap that is churned out each night on BBC - there are some good progs now and again but my partner and i just watch DVDs all the time - DVD films and tv series such as 24, six feet under etc. What if we want to own a TV but not actually watch TV!??!

With the amount of free advertising one sees these days on the BBC plus all their productions going world wide earning masses of dosh, I see no reason why the BBC should be not simply set adrift in the sea just like everyone else and fend for itself out there in the real world.

How much will the shares be?

BBC has a great influence in making news to project the image of any organization or person. Thus, extortion could be possible but it hard to prove.

Your license is for the use of any television receiving equipment (such as a TV, set-top box, computers or mobile phones to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV.

Would you prefer to pay a smaller license fee and for the BBC to collect their money through advertising? Personally I like the uniterrupted programmes and films and I think £2.61 per week is a reasonable price to pay to receive a tv signal.

Have I changed your mind yet?
