A couple of weeks ago. I'm a carer and one of my ladies fell (broke her shoulder) and I took her to casualty. It was either Good Friday or a Sunday. By the way, she's fine. She came home the same day and is pottering about by herself, much to our frustration ... Most of the falls in a care home, people, is not because the old folk are being neglected because staff are 'on breaks' or ignore buzzers.

Most of the falls in care homes happen because the little .... dears don't press their buzzers in the first place because they don't want to be a bother.

I work the nightshift and one of the most common things we hear is "I didn't want to get you out of bed."

I don't sleep at work, if I did, I'd get sacked on the spot but it's impossible to get through to them and I'm not talking about the ladies and gentlemen with dementia.

I regularly nag them. I tell them its more of a bother to have to go to the hospital than to come and switch the buzzer off and help them and anyway, that's what we're there for and sometimes, the buzzers are the only thing that's keeping us awake.

About this time last year.. I had a panic attack and collapsed.. (not a nice thing).
The time before that was the September of 2005 when My dad was in hospital and died there in the end so spent alot of time there... and hadn't been back since.. Until I collapsed and had to and it felt really weird being there again without my Dad... But hey... Life moves on and all.. I'm much stronger a person for it all now!
:-)

About 7 months ago i think, when my son ryan he is only 10 years old came off his bike, banged his head and knocked himself out!!!

It was quite scary at the time he had double vision was being sick all over the nurses,so then he had to have a brain scan.
