i would like to research the things my grandad did and saw during the war but don't know where to start. most web sites seem to be american and a lot of the uk info is still classified. i think this kind of history is important and would love to learn more. any ideas about how to find out or did you know anyone who served in the same company?

Did you look at the Seaforth Highlanders website?

http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/inf/072Seaf.htm

The 7th (Morayshire) Battalion was only formed during WWI (1914-1919) and WWII (1939-1947) .

Wikipedia has an article on "Seaforth Highlanders" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaforth_Highlanders

"The 7th Battalion The Seaforth Highlanders joined the 46th (Highland) Infantry Brigade on 15 November 1941 and served there until it was disbanded on 31 August 1945."

"7th Seaforth Highlanders", 15th (Scottish) Division Website : http://www.cameronians.com/15th/useaf.htm

Google has about 15,900 hits for : 7th battalion seaforth highlanders

Try the MoD [Ministry of Defence] website and click around in there. In all probability the Seaforth Highlanders have their own website - try a simple search by typing in their name.

You can avoid picking up American sites by clicking on UK before finally clicking on 'search'.

There are plenty of UK based search engines.
Try ASK.COM.

Try this one www.army.mod.uk/highlanders/museum
