What really does McCain know about real batllefield fighting? During a practice training in Corpus Christi, his aircraft crashed into Corpus Christi Bay! His plane was shot down on Oct. 26, 1967 while on a bombing run over Hanoi. He parachuted into a lake, breaking both arms and a leg. And was captured by the Vietcons and thrown into 'Hanoi Hilton' where he stayed till 1973 while all his peers, like John Kerry, were doing the real fighting in the real battlefields!

His Vietnam records show him as bringing bad luck than good:

McCain escaped death again on July 29, 1967. While Forrestal steamed off the coast of Vietnam preparing to launch attacks, a Zuni rocket from an F-4 Phantom was accidentally fired across the carrier's deck....The ensuing fire killed 132 sailors, injured 62 others, destroyed at least 20 aircraft, and threatened to sink the ship... After the Forrestal incident, McCain joined the VA-163 Saints on board the short-staffed Oriskany. Before McCain's arrival, on October 26, 1966, a mishandled flare caused a deck fire, resulting in the death of 44 men, including 24 pilots

I disagree. McCain's service is well documented. Yes, he parachuted into a lake...after being shot down. He was thrown into the "Hanoi Hilton" and stayed until 1973...while being beaten and tortured for information which he refused to divulge. He even refused an early "ticket" home from said beating and torture when, after realizing his father was someone reasonably high-up enough in the military, the Vietcong decided to give him an early release provided he make anti-American propaganda. Rather than demoralize his peers, and give in to easy temptation, McCain endured several additional years of almost constant abuse.

I think that the other examples may just be bad coincidence. It's unfortunate that that stuff happened, and who knows, the guy might be unlucky. But to demean his service to the country just because he's an unlucky guy does no one any good, and is no better than when the Republicans went after John Kerry (who arguably is just as much of a hero as McCain or the thousands of other Americans who honorably served their country).

Plus wikipedia, especially in regards to political figures, is one of the least reliable sources.

At least, he believed enough in this country to step forward, raise his right hand, and take the oath. So many other politicians (Clinton!!!) decided it was best to badmouth their country and dodge the bullet (and the draft), because they were afraid to pick up a rifle and protect her.

I think what the McCain Family have sacrificed for this country speaks for itself. McCain’s father and grandfather were both Admirals, John himself served for 27 years (including time as a POW) and his son just enlisted in the Marine Corps last year. Can you tell me how many other men or women in the US Senate have sons or daughters (or any relatives, for that matter) enlisted in our Armed Forces? And I can count on one hand the number of Vietnam Vets in the US Senate.

Serving my country means more to me than stealing quotes from Wikipedia and posting on this website. You must have an incredible Military Record if you’re criticizing McCain’s. How many years did you serve your country?

McCain didn't cause any "bad luck". He served bravely and withstood torture at the Hanoi Hilton.

If you want the facts on John Kerry, read "Unfit for Command" by the man who replaced him with the Swift Boaters in Viet Nam. And note in that book the many pages of names of fellow Swift Boaters who condemned Kerry for his actions and lack thereof.

John McCain was real good for surviving being a prisoner of war but not as a fighter in the battlefield. Thus, vote for the right candidate who has fought for the country.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees profile blog and know who will likely win.

Kerry was a jerk and the men who served with him have said so time and time again. He did shoot one Vietnamese kid in the back as he was running away. McCain was aprisoner for years. I may not vote for him, but Kerry is not fit to wash his jock strap.

I think the people that criticized John Kerry's service during the last election were scum.

I think your criticism of John McCain's service also makes you scum.

Try serving your country BOY, before shooting off your big gutless mouth.

We should at least honor Mr. McCain's service. as should all who served be honored. He at the very least did go. That said I do not believe that his experience is so great as to make him the best choice to lead the country.
