Of all the things you could have been thinking on that day, obesity was what came to your mind?????
I'm amazed.

Although this is slightly offensive, I guess I'll take the bait.
America has an obesity problem because of the need for instant gratification, and the long hours people have, as well as the number of children most people have. A lot of people don't have time for home cooked meals, or healthy meals in general.
I do feel that you're saying some very offensive things about the VTech victims, though, and I also think it's pretty offensive to say that America is full of gluttons.

We Americans are too fat. That's the truth. I try and stay fit but it's hard and I could use losing a few more pounds. We have it too easy and most of us don't seem to have enough will power to avoid snacking.
I worked with an intern from the UK back in the late 90's and he said that they have very few drive-through's in England for one example. Maybe if we actually got out of our cars and walked into the bank or restaurant we might lose a few pounds.
They also don't have cup holders in vehicles from what he said, it is another American tradition to eat and drink while we drive.
So it's definitely an issue. Hopefully we're becoming more aware...

The students are like any others across America. The police, though, are trained at academies which instill a vigorous workout regiment and command presence. American officers work on their arms and keep them far apart to maintain a hulking, authoritative sight.

I live in Va and I first have to say that I think it's incredibly rude and disgustingly offensive for you to even combine such things into one question. Second, there are obese people in all states. Obesity comes from people consuming large portions of prepared foods. If people would take more care into what they put into their bodies then the world wouldn't be so large.
MAY GOD BLESS THE VICTIMS AT V.T.

Obese cop made me realise one thing. He was running with an automatic (Possible M16) rifle. Is american gun laws thaty bad that criminals carry the type of weapons that ordinary, fat donut munching cops need to carry machine guns to fight them? Shows that US gun laws suck. And I am a conservative voter. In Australia, only the equivalent to SWAT carry automatics, and break them out only if they really need them.

Apparently, you don't know what the word glutton means. I know that you are just trying to ruffle people's feathers... but, in a sadly humorous way, you are showcasing your own ignorance.
In that way, your question is actually funny... although, given your ignorance, you probably don't get the joke.

60% of America is obese because the food we eat is full of crap and we're too stubborn and ignorant to do anything about it.

I have no idea, but your right people need to change their diets and exercise more often.
