You know I'm a big proponent of seeking wisdom, however, I don't think it wise to say that the past "always" impacts the future. I certainly believe that it (the past) quite often auditions for solutions to future problems. More and more though the solutions to future problems are only popular when it originates "out of the box". I dislike these euphemisms. But neo or retro, solutions are solutions. I'm just happy to find them. So now a quote from the past to sum up my thinking. "When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong". (please don't ask me who said it. Maybe Fuller.)

Sometimes young people think that their life is going to be a fairy tale all laid out picture perfect. Yes, it is important to know where you came from but in most cases it isn't that great of a place. If you are fortunate enough to have a good family background it is a plus. Of course it isn't a guarantee for success. This is where hard work comes in and a positive attitude. I think a person can have success without a costly education but it is getting much more difficult in the US to succeed without connections or credentials. In my case my future is very questionable due to an accident. Sometimes life can hit you really hard and quick.

Most people don't want to think that knowing where you come from is important because people tend to get stuck in the past and are not able to see the future. In some situations (mental) it is best not knowing where you come from, because that could destroy a possible future...and yet knowing where you come from can give you a great future...but reagardless it is in the past and something you cannot change...but that does not mean it is unimportant
As for the futur....I believe it isn't important to know where your going...sometimes people need to just stop and think...not move, not think about the future just for a little while...that way the perception of that person and their situation can be clearer. Also you don't need to know where your going to move forward....you can go thousands of miles with no destination and learn things people who live to be old men and women would never know....that is a metaphore for life...you may not know where your going or what your life goal is but what counts is that your moving and not stuck in one place...or in the past.

No, But it truly is a personal decision. In some cases it may not be better to find out where you come from if you let where and what you come from define who you are. It may be important to an individual to find out, but do not let the answer to the question change who you are. You are on a path already, just enjoy the trip there. It may not always be necessary to "know where you are going." You are not going to end up where you think you should go anyway.

Yes, I do think so. That's because if we've come some distinct roots and are settled in a foreign country, we should at least visit the country to which we belonged to. I think this would enhance your knowledge and enhance your cultural ties with the country of origin.
We should also keep track of where we're heading in life. For example, if you were born in Bolivia, were raised and educated in Australia and then suddenly after marriage, you migrated to India. Then I think we should know of our future and must think before taking any steps. It is also advisable to take notice of where we're going to stay. It could be a hostile place even or a paradise. So, we must always research before taking any new steps towards where we're heading.

It is very important for a human being to know where we came from and most important where we'll be going. Once we come to know; we will always be on the right path and will always do good not only to human beings but to every creatures. Think well

Yes, it absolutely is. I could mention every cliche in the book about history repeating itself. It doesn't take a genius to break a problem down. We need to know our roots, in order to carry on tradition. To try to prevent repeated mistakes of the past. I may be a dreamer, to some extent, but I still believe that one person can make a difference. No matter how minor it may seem to another person. We all want the same things in life, but we all take different routes to get there. Life is definitely a journey, not a destination. Another silly cliche! Great question.

Whenever you go you carry with you something you can't blot out.
Where we came from is a complex combination of facts, genetic, background, experiences, etc.
If it is all the same if you grew up in a Catholic, Muslim, orthodox, Buddhist, Jewish, atheist or whatever religion. I guess no.
We all have some conscious and unconscious beliefs and they all affect our decisions. How can we forge ahead when some of our beliefs are pulling us back in an conscious or unconscious way.
Our experiences conditioned ourselves to face the new situations which come up through our life. If we just let situations trigger conditional reactions which we have learned in precious moments of life, we will be prone to make the same mistakes over and over again.
So we should learn to be in command of our life and to do that we had better learn where we come from then we can be successful in aim.
Where we come from is not an accurate place it is more the set of circumstances that were around us and how we perceived the world around us and then how we decided to adjust ourselves to them.

Absolutly. To know where you came from gives you a sense of pride and honor. To know where you are going is most important, because you need to prepare for the future and you never know what could happen.

On a whole it is very important. If we are speaking about our origin, it is very important. If evolution be so, then we only have to answer to ourselves we are our own gods, and after death there is nothing more. Yet, if we be crafted from the hands of a Creator, then we have to answer to Him, and we can have hope of eternal life in Him. If there are no rules, except that which we make for ourselves, then what stops my neighbours from doing dispicable things to my family, because it could be right in his eyes. Yet, if we have a responsibility before God, then we can rest assured in His caretaking. Those who deny a loving Creator not only dig their own graves, but others as well. Do not the heavens declare the glory of God?
