Well, branching off from the fact that it simply can represent the color of the sky, or the sky itself...to some it (specifically light blue) signifies Heaven. And with Heaven lies "judgement day" and all that, so it can signify purity and truth. Or for those who fear the dark, the dawning of a new day can represent calmness and healing. A darker blue can signify, well, darkness. Or authority, which may be why there is a "Navy blue." To some blue is a masculine color, ex. baby boys= blue & baby girls = pink. The list goes on, but hope this helps.

Blue is the color most often associated with issues of the spirit and intellect. It is the color of SKY and HEAVEN, also having strong connections with nearly all forms of WATER; for this reason it can have feminine, cool, and reflective qualities. Its link to the sky also connotes eternity and immensity, time and space. Blue may be truth (no clouds to hide it) and transparency; it is linked to loyalty, fidelity, constancy, and chastity. Many babies are born with blue eyes, thus innocence and purity can be attributed to the color.

Blue is also a happy color; it represents 'happy' on a mood ring. It can represent royalty, along with purple, and for me it represents much more; it's my favorite color :)
